Summer is here, with its incredible smells and flavors:
It's time for insalata and pasta alla caprese, both demanding flavor-rich, ripe, sweet
tomatoes. Cold soups like crema fredda di zucchine, e di pomodoro, cool our bodies
and please our senses. Pesto is definitely in season, with all the marvelous,
locally grown basil populating the stands of the farmer market.
Other fresh summer salads, like the insalata mista, insalata di tonno,
insalata di patate e cornetti, as well as plates of grilled summer veggies,
like zucchine, tomatoes, and bell peppers, perhaps served with small potatoes
cooked in the barbeque coals, make for
attractive dinner choices for the hot summer evenings..
